Huntree Nursery May 2024 Newsletter It’s May! And what a beautiful start! Warm days, cool nights, and sun on top of that! Super! Lots of things are happening here. Our gorgeous Rhododendrons are popping into bloom in all their glory. Perennials are coming in weekly, and our sweet quart perennials will be here momentarily. The Dogwoods are gorgeously in bloom. There are plenty of fruit trees of all varieties available, so you can start your orchard any time now. At last, it’s time to begin planning your veggie garden. Hi there fellow gardeners! How can summer be over already???? It’s just not fair! Oh, but we do love the fall season. Time to get excited for change. That’s always invigorating. Mums, ornamental cabbage and kale, ornamental peppers, Montauk Daisies, etc. will be here tomorrow, and the daffodil and tulip bulbs, etc. are heading this way in a week or so (as soon as they get off the boat from the Netherlands, literally). Mother Nature is very stingy with the water and this drought makes us very nervous. Here are top watering tips for you: • Please get out your hoses and soak your precious plants…even your established ones… Daily for new plantings. • Oscillating sprinklers work great because they cover a larger surface.
