Rumor has it that we’re open for the season. Well, it’s true! We’ve got regular hours now, Monday through Saturday 9 to 5 and Sunday 10 to 4. So you can come on in and get the goods you need to get your gardens going. We are still setting up the garden center so we still look kind of naked out there, but the store is looking good. Trucks of plant material will begin to roll in real soon and Cindy & Matt the Brit are busy bringing plants up from our growing area. (Our first truckload comes tomorrow! Yay!)... View Article

Hi There, Well, finally we are getting some fall. It’s been a very weird year weatherwise. We’ll just sit tight and see what is coming next. This may be your last chance to pull in your houseplants. Before you bring them inside, spray them off with the hose or you can give them a spray with horticultural oil or insecticidal soap to get any critters that are trying to hitchhike in. Do you have basil growing in your garden yet? Get out there and harvest it… immediately. Basil is very sensitive to cold. I love to bring it in, pick... View Article

It’s me again with the same emergency message as last time: PLEASE KEEP WATERING!!! It is so dry, and getting dryer. There’s no prediction of rain in the near future. It is very important to keep plants hydrated in the fall. Don’t give up. Even if leaves have dried up and fallen off prematurely it doesn’t mean the plant is dead. There’s still life in the plant. It may just sit there looking ‘sticky’ until next spring. It’s been especially hard on Hydrangeas. They need plenty of water because of their huge flowers and they’re just not getting enough. So... Hi there tree lovers, Look around. It looks like FALL but it shouldn’t yet. Trees are getting their fall color and some are turning brown. But it’s a little early and it’s a sign of stress. If you have planted a new tree or shrub this year, please, please, please get out the hose and turn on the water. Deep water! Thoroughly soak your prized possessions. We keep getting just small amounts of rain, but it hasn’t been enough to soak way down into the deep root area. As I drove around today and looked around I am getting a... View Article

Hi there everyone! Just a little note to keep you up to date with what’s happening at Huntree. We are getting lots of samples in baggies coming across our counter every day. It’s late summer and plants are beginning to show signs of fall. Fungus is a big thing right now. Powdery mildew, tar spot, rust etc., etc., etc. It’s not a big concern this late in the season. It won’t affect the health of your plants. You can spray with a fungicide if it makes you feel better. Spraying won’t clear up the present damage but may prevent spreadage. ... View Article
