Mycorrhizae are beneficial fungus which attach to plant roots to form a network which improves the uptake of nutrients available to a plant. Mycorrhizae are incorporated into the Espoma fertilizers to give your plants an extra boost. Mycorrhizae expand the effectiveness of nutrient and water uptake in a plant. These hyphae attach to the root hairs, extending the root structure by nearly two feet, thus extracting more nutrients and water and at a faster rate. They can also store nutrients and water, releasing them when needed.

Do you have basil growing in your garden yet? Get out there and harvest it… immediately. Basil is very sensitive to cold. I love to bring it in, pick... View Article

It’s me again with the same emergency message as last time: PLEASE KEEP WATERING!!! It is so dry, and getting dryer. There’s no prediction of rain in the near future. It is very important to keep plants hydrated in the fall. Don’t give up. Even if leaves have dried up and fallen off prematurely it doesn’t mean the plant is dead. There’s still life in the plant. It may just sit there looking ‘sticky’ until next spring. It’s been especially hard on Hydrangeas. They need plenty of water because of their huge flowers and they’re just not getting enough. So...
